Starting as a graphic designer Johnny developed a creative eye and saw what could really make a good shot. One day he needed a different shot so he picked up a camera and asked a friend to pose, those shots were horrible but after years of practice and consistently shooting Johnny’s eye continued to develop. A few gigs down the road made Johnny decide to pursue photography full time.
While primarily a fitness photographer Johnny has shot business profile pics, head shots, editorial pieces, campaigns, live events and even weddings but has always returned to fitness. Knowing angles and lighting has made a large difference in why many models have continually returned to Johnny when updating their portfolios. A fresh image can lead to booking more auditions and landing more call backs throughout a career, or getting printed in a magazine and Johnny’s knowledge of a good image continues to lead portfolios and campaigns every day. Today Johnny has shot with leading models Nick Topel, Michael Scanlon, Caylan Hughes, Wyatt Dorion, Aidan Gall, and Steven Dehler, as well as fitness pros Marc Romano, Stephen Siam, Alessandro Cavagnola and more.
Constantly photographing physiques has also been a motivation for Johnny to take note of his own physical fitness and pursue a more healthy and active lifestyle. Through encouragement and education, and an ever growing network of fitness professionals, Johnny has taken on the task of changing his body through HIIT cardio and resistance training, as well as a clean diet and high quality dietary supplements. For 2 months he even did 100 body squats every day with a friend! Strong legs and core are essential when being on your feet photographing all day.
Beyond photography Johnny enjoys live music, design, fitness, studying entrepreneurship, and spending time with his dog Karma. If he isn’t on a shoot you can find him at a local concert or behind his computer learning a new concept about investing or building a business. Johnny runs the brands the SoCal Live Music Review and is a student of famed photographer Walid Azami. He is also a part of the Free The Dream community and a student of renowned podcaster Cliff Ravenscraft, entrepreneur Pat Flynn, and former WWE wrestler turned business coach Kris Pavone.
